Xquartz server cannot connect to display6/28/2023 If one of you sees where the problem lies, I am very glad to learn some more! all in all I got my kde-session running as a desktop. when I enter "chmod a+x startwm" I get the following error:Ĭhmod: startwm: No such file or directory Quitting tried to load your startwm but I got stuck after the curl-command. (protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6600)Ĭould not init font path element /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/CID/, removing from list! I also have tried the log-on via the "Xquartz"-command but that did not work out well (I substituted the internet-address you mentioned into the IP-address I needed). but I wonder if I would have to change anything for any reason I do not know, for the link to the mouse pointer issue! one last issue I have with the kde-desktop is that the background is transparent so I can see my osx-icons and the kde-icons on the same window but can only access the kde-icons (unless I access the osx-desktop via exposé/finder). I basically want the kde-desktop to show up, but also I still want the osx desktop accessable (via exposé, dock). Thanx again for your quick and professional help!ītw, you asked what I want to do, exactly. maybe one of you has encountered the same? my mouse-pointer is kind of yellow on the KDE-desktop! I have changed the preferences in x11 not to simulate 3-button mouse but that did not change anything. I've tried to use both of the above display-configs (1.0 and 0.0) but to me it all looks the same.Ģ. Here, I do not use any "export DISPLAY" or "Xnest" and it works. kde runs, though the x11-terminal window gives me some errors but this could be on the server side. is there any serious problem when I do it like this: Ksmserver: cannot connect to X server □.0īut thank you for this first attempt to solve my problem!įirst, thank you for your clear answer! well, the main fault on my side was - yes, it's a little embarrassing - I was working in the terminal.app instead of the x11.app terminal!!!ġ. Kdeinit: Might not terminate at end of session. Kded: ERROR: Communication problem with kded, it probably crashed. Xlib: connection to "□.0" refused by serverĭCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-718' to 'kded' PowerMacG4, PowerBookG4, iMac(C2D) Mac OS X (10.4.8) (In Leopard, we will have Apple’s own virtual desktop, “Spaces”) You can dedicate one of the desktop to KDE, and switch between desktops by option-tab. This software enabled you to use multiple Mac desktops (just as KDE provides multiple X11 desktops). VirtueDesktops? The development of this software has been stopped, but its latest (final?) version is sufficiently stable. But try the above method first (if your method fails). If you have root privilege on the KDE host, then you can configure it to allow XDMCP. It is disabled by default for security reasons. I guess your KDE host does not allow remote login via XDMCP. I also have tried the log-on via the "Xquartz"-command but that did not work out well No xterm will start, but you can use Terminal.app to ssh into the KDE host (type the following into Terminal.app): If you feel that quartz-wm is conflicting with KDE, then try starting /usr/X11R6/bin/Xquartz alone (not start X11.app). Even if you use the remote login by "Xquartz -query" method, you can not access KDE and Mac desktops simultaneously. So if it works for you, then I guess you may use your method. If KDE starts on the same display (not in a Xnest window, which is another display), then KDE wants to control everything on the display and conflicts with quarz-wm. I guess the problem is that, if X11.app is stared, then Apple's window manager, quartz-wm, is started on the display. I also tried editing Rprofile.site with options(bitmapType='cairo') but that was also ineffective.I have tried your method with my KDE host but it didn't display correctly. I tried a few packages prior to R installation: xorg-dev and libx11-dev But they didn't help. # an index of the applications available in this directory will be shown. # When a user visits the base URL rather than a particular application, # Log all Shiny output to files in this directory # Host the directory of Shiny Apps stored in this directory # Define a server that listens on port 3838 External2: unable to start device PNGįrom nf at /etc/shiny-server: # Instruct Shiny Server to run applications as the user "shiny" Unable to open connection to X11 display '' Warning in pngfun(filename = filename, width = width, height = height, res = res, : I'm trying to run a shiny dashboard on an Ubuntu 16 aws ec2 and the sample is partially working: it shows the dashboard controls but and error message instead of the graphs.Įrror log out put at /var/log/shinyserver: Listening on
